A thick, creamy peppermint milkshake with a smooth vanilla base and a pale minty finish. It is simple to make, tastes festive, and can be topped with whipped cream, cherries, and chocolate for a classic diner-style treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Vanilla ice cream
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1/4 tsp Peppermint extract

Careful about overdoing it, this gets strong fast!

  • Some Shaved dark or semi sweet chocolate

    Optional

  • Some Maraschino cherries

    Optional

  • 2-4 drops Green food coloring

    Optional

Instructions

Creamy Peppermint Vanilla Milkshake

  1. Add the vanilla ice cream, milk, peppermint extract, and optional sugar to a blender.

  2. Blend until smooth and thick. Start with the smaller amount of peppermint extract, then taste and add a tiny bit more if needed. Peppermint can quickly become overpowering.

  3. Add a few drops of green food coloring if you want a soft mint color, then blend again briefly just until evenly mixed.

  4. If the milkshake is too thick, add a small splash of milk and blend again. If it is too thin, add a little more ice cream.

  5. Pour into chilled glasses.

  6. Top with whipped cream, a maraschino cherry, and shaved chocolate. Add crushed peppermint candies, mini chocolate chips, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup if desired.

  7. Serve immediately.
