ComingUp Today vs FamilyWall

Comparison

FamilyWall vs ComingUp Today

Compare a broad family organizer with an existing-screen household display, selected calendar visibility and AI help with access you choose.

Reviewed by ComingUp editorial review with AI assistance ·

Which fits your household?

FamilyWall is a strong fit for a household that wants calendars, conversations, meal planning, budgeting and optional location sharing in one family organizer.

ComingUp is worth evaluating for a shared display on existing hardware, selected read-only Google/iCloud calendars, household content and AI help with access you choose.

If Outlook.com integration, family messaging or budgeting is central, FamilyWall documents capabilities ComingUp does not offer as equivalents here. Confirm your actual Microsoft account and Apple sharing setup before choosing.

Compare the workflow and its limits

Verdict

Choose by your household’s actual workflow and devices. A not-verified entry means the reviewed sources did not establish an equivalent, not that the competitor lacks the feature.

Comparison information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of September 12, 2026, based on official product and help documentation. Features, pricing, and availability may change.

ComingUp Today

  • Household Display and Ambient mode on existing browser-capable hardware.
  • Private managed photos, shared notes/lists and paid-plan recipes alongside a schedule.

Calendar workflow

limited

Google and iCloud connections show selected calendars read-only alongside editable events created in ComingUp. Outlook/Microsoft 365 import is deferred and unavailable.

Plan: Plan-based account/calendar limits

Device: Browser; provider account connection required

supported

Shared calendars plus paid Google and Outlook.com connections, with selected circle-member sharing. The iPhone-calendar path has a sharing limitation and directs users to an iCloud alternative.

Plan: External calendar connections: Premium

Device: Check exact provider/account and device; do not assume all Exchange setups

Shared-screen and devices

supported

See today’s plans on a shared screen. When idle, Ambient mode rotates through content you’ve enabled. An internet connection is required, and device sleep settings still apply.

Device: Existing browser-capable screen

limited

Available on Android, iPhone/iPad and web. A browser session is not proof of a dedicated idle Ambient rotation; that equivalent was not verified.

Device: Phone, tablet and web

Family photos and storage

limited

Private managed photos optimized for the household display; optional Ambient Photos do not require an external photo account. Not original-file backup.

Plan: Photo count varies by plan

supported

Private family gallery for photos/videos. Documented shared quota is 100 MB free or 25 GB Premium; exceeding it prevents further uploads until space is available.

Plan: Storage differs by plan

Household organization

supported

Shared notes and lists; paid plans add recipes, private family notes, deliberate public sharing and printing.

Plan: Recipes: paid plans

supported

Shared shopping/to-do lists, messaging, contacts and recipe organization; Premium adds meal planning, budgeting and timetable tools.

Plan: Check current Premium inclusions

Weather versus location sharing

limited

Optional weather for supported U.S. locations. An event needs a usable location and date or time to show a forecast. Forecasts may be incomplete or unavailable.

not verified

Equivalent event-weather enrichment was not verified. FamilyWall instead documents optional family location sharing; that is a different capability and needs device permissions, network coverage and suitable power settings.

Plan: Enhanced location: Premium

AI-client access

limited

Ask an assistant to help with plans, lists and notes, with access you choose. ComingUp Today is available in ChatGPT. Other assistants depend on the app and your account settings; check their setup guides first.

Plan: AI-service subscription separate

not verified

We did not confirm a comparable way to connect an assistant to household plans and lists in the official documentation reviewed. Other AI features may be available.

Subscription scope

limited

Choose a ComingUp plan for the household capacity and features needed. Paid plans include recipes; photo/account/calendar limits vary.

limited

One Premium subscription benefits the circle’s members. The English US pricing page lists $4.99/month or $44.99 annually; currency, region and store offers may differ.

Plan: Free core tools; optional Premium

ComingUp availability and limits

Connect Google or iCloud to show selected calendars read-only alongside events created in ComingUp. iCloud uses an Apple Account identifier and app-specific password; local-only Apple calendars do not appear automatically. People invited to the same ComingUp organization can share calendars and household information according to their permissions and plan limits. Separate ComingUp organizations remain separate. Outlook and Microsoft 365 import remain intentionally deferred and unavailable today; no active-development or delivery-date commitment is implied.

Optional weather covers supported U.S. locations and available forecasts. Device-local weather uses an explicit location choice stored in that browser. Event weather uses only the event’s own usable location and time or all-day date range; vague, online-only or unsupported locations and dates beyond forecast coverage can yield partial or unavailable results. Weather never changes the schedule.

Connect an AI assistant to help check plans, add groceries, or save a note. You choose what it can access and change. ComingUp Today is available in ChatGPT; support for other assistants depends on the app and your account settings. Check current AI setup and compatibility guidance before relying on a connection. Any AI-service subscription is separate.
